If we were to name the main professionals in the logistics sector
The growing awareness of sustainability is bringing companies' attention to challenges that were sometimes unthinkable in the relatively recent past.
We think about the supply chain. For this to be efficient, it must offer a quality service at reduced costs without sacrificing delivery speeds and the ability to contain the impact of transport on the environment, which are essential requirements at every stage of the supply chain.
Delivery speeds and the environmental impact of transport are both factors that, in order to be sustainable, need a logistics system that promotes the optimal planning of routes and shorter journeys to lower polluting emissions.
This is where sustainable logistics comes in.
The goal of sustainable logistics is to reduce the ecological footprint in all the processes that concern it: not only reducing CO2 emissions but also noise pollution and increasing road safety.
Even logistics nowadays has to deal with the 3 Ps: People, Planet, Profit. Logistics companies must therefore find a sustainable balance between financial growth, environmental care and societal health.
Thanks to its experience and strategic contribution to supply chains, the logistics industry is playing an important role in these efforts, alongside other corporate and social practices, that aim to reduce carbon emissions and road safety concerns.
Environmental regulations are increasingly stringent and logistics companies must make their processes and activities increasingly sustainable to meet current regulations and improve their social responsibility towards consumers.
Lower CO2 emissions, reduced noise pollution and increased road safety are among the goals that we have set ourselves over the year and that we achieve thanks to our fleet of vehicles that we periodically renew in full compliance with the most stringent European regulations.
Our fleet is made up of Euro VI vehicles (80% ecological trailers). We invest in the ownership of intermodal transport in the terminal, trains and trailers which leads to a reduction of 0.83 kg of CO2/km: 0.88 kg of CO2 consumption/km on the road against only 0.05 kg of CO2/km by rail.
We ensure that our vehicles' drivers get the best training in order to achieve safe, ecological and conscious driving. We apply the highest company standards in evaluating and selecting suppliers and customers for all processes related to environmental protection. Aiming for sustainability is also an essential challenge for the supply chain: optimising the use of resources and ignoring unnecessary ones not only contributes to environmental protection but also saves time and resources, which has a positive impact on profitability for the distribution process, for the benefit of all the actors involved.
